Temporary Chat
A temporary chat is not saved to your chat history. It does not appear in the sidebar, and it is gone when you reload the page or leave it.
Starting a Temporary Chat
- Open a new chat.
- Click the Temporary Chat button (a dotted speech-bubble icon) at the top of the chat.
The button only appears on a new chat that has not been saved yet. Once Temporary Chat is on, a "Temporary Chat" label shows under the top bar.
If the Temporary Chat button isn't visible, it isn't enabled for your account.
Saving a Temporary Chat
Changed your mind partway through? A Save Chat button appears while you're in a temporary chat. Click it to save the chat to your history like any other conversation.
Files in a Temporary Chat
Files you attach in a temporary chat are read in your browser and sent along with your message. They are not uploaded to file storage.
What Temporary Chat Changes — and What It Doesn't
Your messages still go to the AI model to get an answer. Schatzi's backend does not store the text of your messages or the model's answers in its database. It records usage details for billing — which model, how many tokens, and when.
Temporary Chat only controls whether the chat is saved. Everything else works the same as in a normal chat, including Memory (if you use it), web search, and follow-up suggestions.
When to Use It
Temporary Chat is good for a quick, one-off question you don't need to keep around.
